Rare! 50 grams (approx 1.76 oz) of star sand beach sand from Okinawa Japan.
This is 100% natural so
pieces of seashells and corals, dried seaweeds, broken star sand, natural beach sand, etc are mixed in the package and it smells like sea water
(not a pleasant smell for most people!). Each piece of star-shaped grain is very tiny(about 1-2mm).  Please do not expect to receive “ONLY” star-shaped grains in it. We are trying very hard to sort out as many star-shaped grains as possible by using a strainer, but perfect star-shaped ones are like less than 30% of it.
It also include some sun sand (Calcarina).
What is star sand?
Star sand is a biogenic sand made of skeletons of tiny, mono-celled sea creatures belonging to the foraminifera group. This type of sand can be found at very limited area in the world.
It is said that star sand brings happiness, so many people keep the sand as lucky charms.
We are selling the star sand that was collected on the beach of this  beautiful small island – Hatoma, Okinawa.
Once a year, the school children of
Hatoma elementary and middle school
(there are only 7 students on the island), their parents, teachers and anyone who is involved in the community, collect the star sand to raise money for school activities by selling the sand.
After they collected the sand, they spend a full month to wash the sand clean, dry it under the sun, then sort out the star shaped sand. Many thanks to their hard work!
*Please note: It’s illegal to pick up the sand by yourself unless you are permitted to do that so please do not try to go there to get the sand!

Cancellation cannot be accepted for any reason as we ship out orders very quickly.
